The Bracketeer

See what our interns built in just a week…

I wrote a post 1.5 weeks ago where I introduced you to Oskar and Andreas. Our interns during the winter break.

Before I show you what they built together, I’d just like to say that I had such a great time with them. They are both very mature and capable developers.

CurlyBrackets holds classes for kids and teenagers. Our classes can be attended in person or remotely from home. This means we have to have a good way to let our students and teachers communicate with each other. We are currently using third-party services Zoom and Discord to achieve this. However, they are not perfect.

That’s why we want to create our own communication tool.

This is what Oskar and Andreas were tasked with. They were supposed to build a prototype application that would solve this problem.

This is what they came up with:

Pretty cool, right?

It has users, channels, direct messages and a lot of other smaller features.

We’re going to continue developing and testing this. Eventually, it will turn into a part of the CurlyBrackets Platform.

We’re going to continue to offer internship programs whenever we can. We are also talking to other companies who would like to take in interns from CurlyBrackets.

Internships like these are an excellent opportunity for young people to work on real things in a professional environment.

Oskar even got to present the work to an audience of developers and designers at Iterate last Wednesday. Unfortunately, Andreas couldn’t join because of school. 😆

Everyone seemed very impressed. Iterate’s CEO, Rune Larsen, even told Oskar to let him know if he’s ever interested in doing an internship with Iterate!

That’s all I had for today.

I hope you’re having a good Monday and I wish you a great week!
